The Lincoln Imp’s Night-Time Gallery: a new picture trail for children

Psst! Have you heard? The Lincoln Imp has sneaked out of the Cathedral for West End Lights 2026, and he has turned the West End into his very own Night-Time Gallery!

The Imp's Night-Time Gallery picture trail

This year we have a brand-new picture trail for children and their grown-ups. The Imp has hidden 11 pictures in golden gallery frames on streets all around the West End. Every one of them was drawn by a child from our two West End schools, St Faith’s Infant and Nursery School and St Faith and St Martin Junior School, as part of this year’s poster competition.

How to play

  • Scan the QR code on any of the Imp’s posters with your phone camera. No app, no sign-up, and your family gets its own fun explorer name.
  • Meet the Imp at each picture. He’ll tell you what he loves about it, share a cheeky local fact and set you a silly photo challenge.
  • Find any 6 of the 11 pictures to complete the trail, then download your certificate. Keen explorers can hunt down all 11!

The Imp’s posters go up shortly before the big night, so join the trail on Friday 4 December, 6 to 9 pm, while you enjoy the illuminations. Please keep little explorers close and take care crossing the roads.

All the details are on our trail page:

A big thank you to every child who entered our poster competition, and to both schools for taking part. The Imp says these are his favourite pictures EVER!

And the map is growing!

Five illuminations are already on our 2026 map, only a day after it opened. Lighting up your window this year? Put yourself on the map at lincoln-west-end-lights.com/mapform, and see the latest map any time on our West End Lights 2026 page.
